Wellness Exams

For Every Stage of Your Pet’s Life

Preventative care is essential to keeping your pet healthy and happy. Through routine wellness exams, we can prevent or address common health issues like obesity, ear infections, and dental disease, while also screening for conditions such as arthritis, diabetes, and kidney disease.

Our experience shows that pets up-to-date on preventative care are healthier for longer. And when they do get sick, early detection improves their outcomes.

Recommended Wellness & Preventive Care Services:

  • Adult Pet Wellness Exams: Annual comprehensive exams for adult pets assess eyes, ears, nose, mouth, lungs, skin, joints, lymph nodes, and more. Since pets often hide symptoms, these physicals are essential for catching issues early.
  • Puppy & Kitten Wellness Exams: We’re excited to help new pet parents give their puppies and kittens the best start! Young pets require frequent visits to stay on track with vaccinations and care. Our team also offers guidance on raising healthy, happy pets.
  • Senior Pet Care: Senior pets need special attention, as they age more rapidly than humans. For pets over seven, we may recommend exams with bloodwork every six months to monitor their health closely.
  • Vaccinations: Vaccines and boosters are crucial for preventing serious diseases such as rabies, distemper, feline panleukopenia, and more.
  • Dental Care: Your pet’s oral health affects their overall well-being. Annual dental cleanings, done under anesthesia, include radiographs, thorough cleaning, polish, and any necessary treatments.
  • Parasite Control: Fleas, ticks, heartworm, and other parasites are not only a risk to your pet’s health but also to your family’s. Our veterinarians can recommend appropriate parasite preventatives
  • Skin and Coat Care: Routine grooming, washing, and managing allergies help prevent skin infections, matting, and other issues.
  • Nutrition: Proper nutrition is vital to your pet’s health, supporting growth, immunity, and overall wellness.
  • Behavioral Evaluations: Mood or behavior changes often indicate underlying health issues. Addressing these behavior issues can improve your pet’s quality of life.

How Often Should My Pet Have an Exam?

The average pet ages roughly five to seven years for each human year, depending on their breed and size. For example, a 7-year-old terrier has a health profile similar to a 35-year-old human. Given pets’ shorter lifespans—typically around 14 years—regular preventive care is essential. We recommend at least one wellness exam per year, and for pets over eight years old, twice a year, to help them stay healthy as they age.
