We are excited to welcome Dr. Jala Johnston to the Wellspring Animal Hospital family! Beginning in July 2026, Dr. Johnston joined our team with a passion for compassionate veterinary care and a special connection to the community she has always called home.
Joining Wellspring is a full-circle moment for Dr. Johnston. Before and throughout veterinary school, she worked as a veterinary assistant at our network hospital, Conyers Animal Hospital, where she discovered her love for veterinary medicine and built lasting relationships with pets, families, and fellow team members. Today, she's thrilled to return to East Metro Atlanta as a veterinarian, caring for the community that helped shape her journey.
A proud first-generation veterinarian, Dr. Johnston was born and raised in Covington, Georgia. Her love for animals began at an early age and inspired her to pursue a career dedicated to helping pets live healthier, happier lives.
She earned her Bachelor of Science in Animal Science from the University of Georgia before completing her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree through St. George's University School of Veterinary Medicine. She finished her clinical training at Louisiana State University School of Veterinary Medicine, where she gained valuable experience treating companion animals while developing a strong interest in preventive medicine, client education, and compassionate patient care.
Dr. Johnston believes great veterinary medicine is built on trust, communication, and treating every patient as if they were her own. She enjoys partnering with pet parents to help them make informed decisions throughout every stage of their pet's life, from welcoming a new puppy or kitten to supporting senior pets and everything in between.
As a Christian, Dr. Johnston considers it a privilege to care for God's creation and strives to honor Him through her work by treating every patient with kindness, compassion, and excellence.
When she's not caring for patients, Dr. Johnston enjoys spending time with her family, painting, drawing, staying active through exercise, and unwinding with a good true crime documentary or podcast.
