Opened in May of 2003, we have happily served Newton, Rockdale and surrounding counties for over a decade. We are a small animal clinic, dealing only with dogs and cats. We provide a wide variety of services: annual exams, in-house lab work, spay & neuter, ultrasound, digital radiograph, dental cleanings, routine surgery, vaccines, and grooming - just to name a few. Our experienced veterinarians and staff pride themselves on providing exceptional care. Our patients are our top priority.
Meet Dr. Thomas:
"I am a 1988 graduate of Emory University and a 1993 graduate of the College of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Georgia. At work, I enjoy surgery and behavior management cases. In my off time I like to ride horses, read and travel. I live in Oxford with one human child, 2 dogs, 4 cats, 3 horses, one bird and our fish."
Meet Dr. Amis:
"I have worked at Wellspring Animal Hospital for 11 years. I graduated from University of Georgia School of Veterinary Medicine in 2006. I have always had a passion for veterinary medicine since I was eight years old. I have 2 cats and a dog. Their names are Lincoln, Kennedy and McDreamy. I look forward to taking care of your pets. "
"My love affair with animals began as a child and I have always had a number of dogs, cats, and horses in my life. I graduated from Berry College with a degree in Animal Science. I am a long time client at Wellspring Animal Hospital and have been an employee since fall 2014. I am married and have an adventure loving son. Outside of work, I enjoy showing my Labrador Retrievers."
"Dogs are not our whole life, but they make our lives whole." - Roger Caras
"I have been in the veterinary field for over 40 years and have worked in many aspects of the hospital. I have had many dogs, cats, horses, chickens and even a rat! I have been at Wellspring since January 2015 and have known Dr. Thomas for 15 years. My favorite things are reading a good book and spending time with my Grandchildren."
"Retiring from General Motors after 30 years, I was looking for something to do, something other than housework. I started at Wellspring Animal Hospital in March of 2010. When I married many years ago my husband said no pets and no children. So, after one child and many dogs and cats, my husband is still around after 38 years."
"I started working at Wellspring Animal Hospital when I was 16 as a kennel tech and an assistant. I have known Dr. Thomas for many years and have always loved the staff at Wellspring. I have my Bachelor's degree from Georgia Southern. I am also married and have an almost two year old little girl named Cameron. I am now back as the new office manager. I have always had a passion for animals, and that is why I have three dogs and two cats. Lola Monroe is my boykin spaniel that is my baby, and O'Malley my alley cat is my trouble maker!"
"I'm Hunter, also known as the cat expert. Ever since I was a young boy, I have been drawn to animals. They too have been drawn to me. I enjoy doing emergency medicine. You may recognize me from my time working at our local emergency clinic, East Metro Animal Emergency. One thing I would love to do one day would be to open a wolf sanctuary. When I'm not working, I really like going on adventures with my Australian Shepards. We do everything from hiking trails and going to parks to dock diving."
"A dog judges others not by their color or creed or class but by who they are on the inside." - John Grogan
"I have been a client of Wellspring for as long as I can remember. Growing up, I said one day I would work there. In August 2017 that came true. I am currently enrolled to become a registered technician. I have always had an overwhelming passion for animals, especially (but not limited to) horses and dogs. When I am not working I enjoy spending time with my husband and our two children. Whether it's relaxing in front of the T.V. or adventuring the outdoors. I currently own one dog- Emma. My beautiful mutt."
"They may be the purest example of divine love in an earthly soul many of us ever experience." -Jennifer Skiff
"Animals have filled my heart my whole life. I began working with Dr. Thomas in 1996. Later, when she opened Wellspring Animal Hospital I began working Saturday's and filled in during school holidays. I'm still around on Saturday's and occasionally on other days. I am a teacher at General Ray Davis Middle School in Rockdale County. I've taught a variety of enrichment camps, including Dog Camp for many years. I have one daughter Megan, she is married and lives in California. I'm recently married to Kevin Matthews. When I can find an extra minute or dollar I love traveling. I plan to retire to Scotland with Dr. Thomas one day."
"My name is Samantha Lyon; I am one of the assistants. I came to Wellspring Animal Hospital October 2017. I was born in Los Angeles, California and moved to Georgia in 2005. "I’m Adam. I love hiking, drinking coffee, and music. I have two pets; my cat, Bird, and my German shepherd, Koda. I attend Heritage High School and am a part of the fine arts program as a photography major. I’ve always loved animals and dreamed of working at an animal hospital for as long as I can remember. As a kennel tech, I take care of your pets while they stay with us. Their care and comfort are our top priority."
Trish was born and raised in Tennessee. She would probably prefer animals over most people. In her spare time, her most favorite things to do would be going antiquing, riding around on back roads in the country with her hubby and horse back riding. Her pride and joy is her Grand baby Gracie.
