Opened in May of 2003, we have happily served Newton, Rockdale and surrounding counties for over a decade. We are a small animal clinic, dealing only with dogs and cats. We provide a wide variety of services: annual exams, in-house lab work, spay & neuter, ultrasound, digital radiograph, dental cleanings, routine surgery, vaccines, and grooming - just to name a few. Our experienced veterinarians and staff pride themselves on providing exceptional care. Our patients are our top priority.
Meet Dr. Thomas:

In my off time I like to ride horses, read and travel. I live in Oxford with one human child, 2 dogs, 4 cats, 3 horses, one bird and our fish."

"I have been in the veterinary field for over 40 years and have worked in many aspects of the hospital. I have had many dogs, cats, horses, chickens and even a rat! My current companions are Ross (You may see him at work with me fairly often) and Mindy. I have been at Wellspring since January 2015 and have known Dr. Thomas for 15 years. My favorite things are reading a good book and spending time with my Grandchildren."
"Retiring from General Motors after 30 years, I was looking for something to do, something other than housework. I started at Wellspring Animal Hospital in March of 2010. When I married many years ago my husband said no pets and no children. So, after one child and many dogs and cats my husband is still around after 38 years."
"Hi! I'm Amy! I known as the scratching post and chew toy. I win the award for the most bites and scratches at our clinic. I've been happily married for 11 years to my mister wonderful. Together we have 4 children; 2 boys and 2 girls. We have been blessed with 2 grandsons and a granddaughter. After a 23 year career as a flight attendant, I decided it was times for a change. I have been in the veterinary industry for almost 6 years. I love all animals of all kinds. We have 4 furkids; 2 dogs- Missy and Bubbles- and 2 cats- Piper and Toby. We are very involved in our church where I teach 2nd and 3rd graders Sunday School. In our "free" time, we love to fish, hunt and spend as much time with our family as possible."
"I'm Hunter, also known as the cat expert. Ever since I was a young boy, I have been drawn to animals. They too have been drawn to me. I enjoy doing emergency medicine. You may recognize me from my time working at our local emergency clinic, East Metro Animal Emergency. One thing I would love to do one day would be to open a wolf sanctuary. When I'm not working, I really like going on adventures with my Australian Shepards. We do everything from hiking trails and going to parks to dock diving."
"A dog judges others not by their color or creed or class but by who they are on the inside." - John Grogan
"I started at Wellspring in August 2012. I knew as a child I wanted to be in this industry and I have worked my way up from the bottom. I have an Associates in Biology from Georgia Perimeter College and I'm currently enrolled with Penn Foster for my Technician certification. I spend my weekends with my Husband, my Momma and our furkids fishing, playing in the river and taking our Bronco out on trails and in the mud. My Husband and I have two dogs, Cooter Davenport and Leonidas, and two cats,Samson and Sebastian."
"I have found a desire within myself that no experience in this world can satisfy; the most probable explanation is that I was made for another world." - C.S. Lewis
"I have been a client of Wellspring for as long as I can remember. Growing up, I said one day I would work there. In August 2017 that came true. I am currently enrolled to become a registered technician. I have always had an overwhelming passion for animals, especially (but not limited to) horses and dogs. When I am not working I enjoy spending time with my husband and our two children. Whether it's relaxing in front of the T.V. or adventuring the outdoors. I currently own one dog- Emma. My beautiful mutt."

"Animals have filled my heart my whole life. I began working with Dr. Thomas in 1996. Later, when she opened Wellspring Animal Hospital I began working Saturday's and filled in during school holidays. I'm still around on Saturday's and occasionally on other days. I am a teacher at General Ray Davis Middle School in Rockdale County. I've taught a variety of enrichment camps, including Dog Camp for many years. I have one daughter Megan, she is married and lives in California. I'm recently married to Kevin Matthews. When I can find an extra minute or dollar I love traveling. I plan to retire to Scotland with Dr. Thomas one day."
"My name is Debbie Rising and I have worked for Dr. Thomas at Wellspring Animal Hospital for several years. I enjoy my interactions with our clients and their pets. Our pets at home are all rescues. We have two rat terriers and a chihuahua. Billy, Beau and Chia, they are my babies. My life would be very dull without them. My husband, Mike, also worked for Dr. Thomas at the clinic for a number of years. We enjoy traveling every chance we get."
"I’m Adam. I love hiking, drinking coffee, and music. I have two pets, my cat named Bird and my German shepherd named Koda. I am currently in school to be a Veterinarian and/or a Zoologist. I have a huge passion for animals and always have since I was a young girl. As a Kennel Technician, we are responsible for tending to your fur babies needs whenever they are staying with us at the clinic. It's such an amazing, fun job."
We have 3 Groomers: Laurie Taylor, Susie Tumlin and Trish Rayner.
Laurie has been grooming dogs for over 3 years, with a specialty in Poodles. She joined the Wellspring team in August of 2013 with her daughter Susie. When Laurie isn't grooming dogs, you can find her sitting in the woods or a deer stand. She loves taking her oldest grandson, Aden, hunting on the weekends.
Susie is a little bit country and a little bit rock and roll. She has been grooming since she was 15, about 15 years. Poodles are her favorite type of dog to groom. She puts her passion in everything that she does. When she is not working, Susie is normally tending to her 3 beautiful boys; Aden, Adam and Avery.
Trish was born and raised in Tennessee. She would probably prefer animals over most people. In her spare time, her most favorite things to do would be going antiquing, riding around on back roads in the country with her hubby and horse back riding. Her pride and joy is her Grand baby Gracie.
